TMV Pilots New Programs to Address Student Issues
Two new programs developed by the Greater Towson Council of Community Associations
(GTCCA) and Towson University are being piloted in Towson Manor Village during the 2009-10
school year.
Community Ambassador Program
The Community Ambassador Program was launched in TMV in September, 2009. Liam Davis, a
junior at Towson University and resident of Fellowship Forest, was hired as the Community
Ambassador. His role involves helping students living in TMV to become acclimated to living in
the community and promoting positive relations between students and residents of the
neighborhood. A kick-off party was held in September to help students and neighbors to meet
one another and a "Wake & Rake" leaf-raking project was held in November. Check the TMV
newsletter to learn about future events. To reach Liam Davis, email him at
ldavis1@students.towson.edu.
Community Conferencing Project
The Community Conferencing Project was developed during the summer of 2009 and launched
in October. The project involves bringing together students from problem houses and neighbors
for a "community conference" with a trained facilitator to discuss the problems and develop a plan
to prevent them in the future. The project has now expanded to other Towson communities.
To learn more about the Community Conferencing Project, contact Ed Kilcullen at
